These cutters were the backbone of the Revenue Cutter Service for more than a decade. Samuel Humphreys designed these cutters for roles as diverse as fighting pirates, privateers, combating smugglers and operating with naval forces.This particular example is a wooden model with what appears to be a copper hull. As you can see, it is very detailed, with elaborate riggings and flags. This heavy model is housed in a glass and wooden case with interestingly dovetailed corners.
